Sun and Shield School is a school with a keen eye on academic excellence driven by the conviction that every child has capacity to achieve success. We have fully embraced the competence based education where teachers facilitate learning with emphasis on communication and collaboration, creativity, leadership, problem solving, critical thinking, teamwork, digital literacy amongst many other soft and technical skills with a firm knowledge foundation.
As a Christian academy, worship is given high priority and reading of God’s word is the norm as we obey Christ by letting the little children go to Him “for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Mark 10:14. We have a Chaplaincy with three Chaplains and a worship Pastor. The Word of God, is cherished by the community of Sun and Shield School.
The learners enjoy sumptuous meals carefully prepared and served by the catering department for the nourishment of their bodies. The immense energy is expended through various games, the favourite seems to be football, skating, chess, swimming, cross country, etc.
The day scholars have sufficient transportation in terms of our clean, carefully driven buses. Those who board have spacious rooms which are also very well cleaned and maintained with very efficient and dedicated Matrons and security personnel.
This is home away from home, for the very young ones in play group, pre-primary and the rest of the primary section. This has been achieved because the teachers are professional and friendly. The children look forward to school each day because school is as good as it’s teachers. The learners have also nurtured their relationships and treat their friends well.
As we look forward to the birth of the junior secondary in 2023, we are excited because we have what it takes to hold the baby and nourish it the best way possible. The trustees, the school management, teachers and learners aim at the pursuit of excellence.
