Sun and Shield School hosted this year’s Scouts Founder’s Day celebrations in a vibrant event that brought together 15 schools in a shared spirit of service, leadership, and teamwork.
Founder’s Day is observed annually on 22 February in honour of Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scout Movement. The day serves as a reminder of the core values of Scouting: leadership, discipline, service, teamwork, and the enduring Scout motto, “Be Prepared.” Across the world, Scouts mark the occasion by renewing their Scout Promise, participating in parades and community service activities, and reflecting on the importance of character building and responsible citizenship.
At Sun and Shield School, the celebration was both purposeful and inspiring. Scouts and teachers gathered for a programme that combined training, drills, and practical learning experiences.
A key highlight of the day was the In-Service Training Course (ITC) for Scout teachers. The session equipped participants with practical skills to strengthen Scouting programmes in their respective schools. The training focused on effective leadership, organization of Scout activities, and improved drill coordination, ensuring that teachers are well prepared to guide and mentor their Scouts.
The Scouts themselves demonstrated impressive discipline and teamwork through coordinated marching drills, including a structured march from the school to Rafiki Center. The display reflected unity, confidence, and a strong sense of purpose. Participants also engaged in additional drills and practical Scouting exercises designed to enhance their preparedness and teamwork.
The event strengthened collaboration among the 15 participating schools and reinforced the spirit of Scouting within the wider community. It was a memorable day that not only celebrated Baden-Powell’s vision but also deepened bonds among young leaders committed to service and excellence.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the parents and teachers whose support contributed to the success of this important day.
