What an unforgettable few days it has been for Sun and Shield School! From February 25th to 27th, our scholars traveled to Merishaw School to compete in the World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) Regional Round, and the results are nothing short of spectacular. Today, we’re bringing home not just stories, but a trophy-filled journey that leads straight to the global stage.
The WSC isn’t your average school competition. It’s an intensive international event that challenges students in multiple arenas:
-
Team Debates: Defending big ideas under pressure.
-
Collaborative Writing: Crafting compelling arguments as a team.
-
The Scholar’s Bowl & Challenge: Testing deep knowledge and quick thinking across a wide range of subjects.
These challenges reflect the values we hold dear at Sun and Shield: critical thinking, teamwork, and global citizenship. Our learners didn’t just participate, they excelled, embodying the “Sharpen and Shine” academic spirit that defines our school.

The excitement on the journey home was electric. Every scholar who competed in Kajiado has qualified for the Global Rounds in Doha, Qatar.
From medals to personal triumphs, our students demonstrated remarkable poise, skill, and resilience. Competing on an international stage against some of the brightest young minds is a proud moment for our school community and a testament to the dedication of our learners, parents, and staff.
This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the guidance and support of our Club Patron, Mr. George Opande, and the leadership of our Head of Institution, Mr. Joshua M. Ndung’u. We are equally grateful to our parents, whose encouragement and belief in this noble academic endeavor made this success possible.

As we begin preparations for the international stage in Doha, one thing is clear: this is only the beginning. Our scholars have shown that with determination, teamwork, and discipline, excellence is not just achievable, it’s inevitable.
"For the Lord God is a sun and shield..." — Psalm 84:11
Sun and Shield School is proud to nurture learners who shine brightly, academically and personally, on every stage.
