Sun and Shield School hosted a dynamic two-day Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) Preparation Boot Camp for Grade 9 learners and teachers. Held on Friday, 20th June, and Saturday, 21st June 2025, the event was designed to equip students and educators alike with the strategies, knowledge, and motivation needed to excel in the upcoming national assessments.
Friday’s sessions placed Grade 9 learners at the center of an engaging and purpose-driven program. The school grounds were alive with focus and determination as students participated in targeted workshops aimed at boosting their competence and confidence across core subjects. In Mathematics sessions, learners honed their problem-solving skills, tackled challenging equations, and practiced with real exam scenarios to build familiarity and mastery. English modules helped students strengthen their grammar, enhance writing clarity, and improve comprehension techniques essential for success. Kiswahili lessons enabled learners to expand their vocabulary, refine listening and writing skills, and deepen their command of the language. The sessions were led by experienced facilitators who brought energy, expertise, and encouragement. By the end of the day, many students expressed newfound confidence in their abilities, with one learner sharing, “I feel more confident and ready for KJSEA now!”
Saturday shifted focus to the dedicated teachers who guide and inspire our learners daily. Through hands-on training and collaborative workshops, teachers explored effective instructional practices and refined their approaches to assessment and revision. They examined current exam trends, analyzed sample questions, and reviewed marking schemes to ensure alignment with KJSEA expectations. Departments worked together to identify learner needs, share best practices, and create cohesive, impactful lesson plans. Subject-specific sessions for Mathematics, English, and Kiswahili provided practical strategies to engage students, close learning gaps, and support individual progress. The professional development experience left teachers inspired and energized. As one Grade 9 teacher noted, “This was not just training — it was transformation.”
At Sun and Shield School, we believe that preparation breeds confidence, and confidence drives success. This two-day boot camp was not merely an academic exercise — it was a rallying call for excellence, resilience, and shared purpose. As our Grade 9 learners approach this important milestone, they do so equipped with knowledge, skills, and the unwavering support of their teachers and the entire school community.
Together, we rise. Together, we shine. Sun and Shield – Lighting the Path to Success!
