There was a special warmth and quiet joy in the air at Sun and Shield Primary and Junior School as our Grade 6 and Grade 9 learners gathered in the school dining hall for our annual Prayer Day. It was a beautiful, heartwarming occasion dedicated to seeking God’s guidance, wisdom, and blessings for our candidates as they prepare for their upcoming national examinations.
What made the day truly exceptional was seeing the event entirely led by the learners themselves. Both Grade 6 and Grade 9 learners took center stage with confidence and grace, leading praise, sharing inspiring presentations, offering thoughtful words of encouragement, and giving heartfelt thanks.
A standout moment of the day was an uplifting sermon delivered by Davies Kiptoo one of our Grade 9 boys. Drawing inspiration from the story of Nehemiah, he reminded everyone that true success requires both spiritual grounding and active effort. He highlighted how Nehemiah never just built; he prayed first, and then he went to work, reminding us that faith without action is dead. It was a powerful message that deeply resonated with students, teachers, and parents alike.
Following the sermon, our dedicated school chaplain stepped forward to pray over the learners, officially commissioning them into God’s hands for protection, clarity of mind, and academic success during this crucial season. In a special gesture of encouragement, the Director of the school, Professor Gladys Jerobon Kiptiony, personally awarded success cards to the learners, filling the room with smiles and inspiration.
Although parents participated virtually online, their presence, prayers, and loving support were felt throughout the entire service. We extend our sincere gratitude to our wonderful parents, dedicated teachers, and the entire Sun and Shield school fraternity for coming together to make this day such a resounding success.
To our Grade 6 and Grade 9 candidates: as you sit for your exams, know that your school, your teachers, and your parents believe in you. We wish you immense success and stand firm in our belief that you will excel! Sharpen and Shine Is our beautiful motto.
